Course (PCOC
Theory)

Do you have your Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card? Get yours through the Sail Canada. A great course for any boater, sailor or paddler! Learn about the ways of the water and become wise about staying safe, even in Nanaimo’s inner harbour! Course focus is on Navigational Aids, Lights, and the Right of Way rules. Avoid the risk of a $250 fine. Course includes approximately 2.5 hours of material review followed by a written exam. This course is a prerequisite for the Sail Canada Basic Outboard Course.

Basic Outboard Course (PCOC Practical)
The practical component of the Boating Safety program will provide you with the confidence to operate a craft under 6 metres, powered by an outboard engine under 10hP (55kW) in familiar waters. Components include manoevering under power, recovering a person overboard, docking, mooring, anchoring and knots. This course is a Sail Canada Standard. Prerequisites: PCOC card
